In Oakland, “Farallon Capital” became shorthand for corruption, greed, coal money, and billionaire influence the moment Philip Dreyfuss funded causes "progressives" opposed. But now, somehow, the founder of Farallon himself - Tom Steyer- is being embraced by tthe same "progressives". Apparently hedge-fund money is only immoral when it threatens the local ideological machine.
