Agents with their own wallets and budgets will be a very big deal and could subtly change the economics of the internet over time. I regularly have tasks that I’m doing where I want an agent to use some canonical tool or data source to complete the task, but I don’t have any underlying account for the relevant service - and in many cases I wouldn’t even know which one to use. What you’d want to be able to do is give the agent a budget, say $100, to go complete the work and it can choose on demand to pick the tools and sources that it needs to do the work. The agent will then find the best sources of information and complete the task. Lots of questions arise on how the agent will discover the best tools, what’s the underlying discovery or auction mechanism to do this, and so on, but this could be a meaningful change to the business model of lots of online services that are used either infrequently or just have a huge point of friction to be adopted. This would be another growth vector for the web economy and create all new entrepreneurial opportunities for people that can aggregate the most relevant data or create useful tools for agents to work with.
